The Caprese Salad is a simple, yet elegant dish that originates from the island of Capri in Italy, hence the name. It's a celebration of fresh, high-quality ingredients that come together to highlight the Mediterranean flavors. Whether served as an appetizer, side dish, or even a light main course, it's a timeless recipe that never fails to impress!

Ingredients (Serves 4)
4 large ripe tomatoes, sliced
250g fresh mozzarella (preferably buffalo mozzarella), sliced
1 bunch fresh basil leaves
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare the tomatoes and mozzarella
Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella into even rounds, about 1/4-inch thick. Arrange them alternately on a large platter, layering tomato, mozzarella, and basil leaves.
Season the salad
Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the top of the salad. If you like a bit of sweetness and tang, drizzle the balsamic glaze over it as well.
Add salt and pepper
Sprinkle the salad with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste.
Garnish
Finish by scattering a few more fresh basil leaves on top for a burst of color.
Serve
Serve immediately as a light appetizer or side dish.
Thank you!
